Why are ticks so prevalent in my backyard this year?

I’ve been noticing a lot more ticks in my yard lately. I mow regularly and keep it tidy, so I’m not sure why they’re showing up. Has anyone else experienced this rise? What can I do to get rid of them?

This is my 20th year in Utah, and I had never seen one here before this year. There are a lot of mini ranches out my way. I thought maybe someone brought them in on some livestock, etc.

They were bad in the spring but I haven't seen any for about a month. Hopefully the dry summer will kill them off.

I guess it depends where you're at.
Never had or seen ticks growing up from Holiday, Murray, Millcreek,South salt Lake and rose park. However I took my dog out to Lee Kay training grounds by the dump and had ticks all over her and me. Never seen so many ticks.
