223/5.56 is my favorite cartridge to shoot. It's low cost, low recoil, easy to reload, and is easy on barrels. It also can be very accurate.

Here are a couple of my favorite loads

Plinking/fun
55 FMJ
24.2 H335
2.250 OAL

Tactical, AR-15, etc
77 SMK or Nosler CC
23.1 8208XBR
2.250 OAL

Long range and hunting
80 ELD-M
24.9 N540
2.500 OAL
**Note the OAL on this is long but fits my chamber. Any shorter and you may see pressure signs.

Feel free to post your 223 loads in this thread..

Have you noticed any significant differences in accuracy or barrel life between the 55 FMJ plinking load and your heavier 77–80 grain hunting loads?

Huge difference, due to the quality of the bullet. FMJ profile bullets are typically not accurate due to the way they are manufactured
