I was stuck trying to figure out if I should take my deer to a butcher or just do it myself. A butcher would save me time and make sure the cuts are good, but it would cost extra, and I'd have to rely on them to handle the deer right. Doing it all myself took longer, but I learned so much and TBH, I really liked knowing I did it all myself. What do you guys usually do? Butcher or DIY?

I’m with you, I tried doing it myself once, and yeah, it took forever, but man, wrapping those steaks knowing I handled every step felt pretty awesome...but still after long hunts, a butcher sure sounds tempting

I have never used a butcher because I'm a tight wad. Learned it from Grandparents, they could squeeze a penny so tightly it would make tears come out of Ole Abe.
Its a lot of work butchering your self but I know exactly every part is my animal and that nothing is wasted due to fast processing to get orders out the door.

I prefer doing it myself. Sure, it might take longer but at least I know it's done properly and stays tidy and there's nothing quite like grilling meat that I prepped myself, it just feels great.

I usually process my own deer. I get a clean table ready, grab my best knives and set up a cooler. It feels good doing it myself and I get the meat exactly how I want it.
