Would you carry a derringer?

I tried carrying a small derringer pistol as my main concealed carry for a few weeks. I just wanted to check if it could work in real life. To be honest, there were some things I liked at first like it being super light, so it didn't pull my pants down. It was also surprisingly easy to hide even when I wore lighter clothing.

But here's the thing, when I went to a shooting range and tried actually practicing with it, the reality hit me hard. Only having two shots was a big problem. If I needed more than two shots in self-defense (which isn't weird at all), I'd be in serious trouble and the trigger pull was super stiff. It made it hard to shoot accurately and quickly. I had to put so much power on the trigger. After that range trip, I started thinking about my choice. Sure, it was convenient but I wasn’t sure about it being my primary weapon. Has anyone tried carrying a derringer as their main concealed gun?

I wouldn't want a derringer as my primary weapon...just two shots and a hard trigger? Nah, that concerns me. Maybe as a hidden last resort, but I'd rather have a pistol I can actually shoot well.

Yeah, I agree. A derringer would be my last choice for a carry gun. Reloading one fast is almost impossible, which makes it a bad backup compared to a small revolver or subcompact semi-auto.
