The instructor had us run realistic defensive drills at close distances. Then he asked us to think about what “effective” actually means outside of a controlled range setting. We talked about hollow point performance, how rounds expand and how they penetrate. Hearing it framed in a real-world context felt very different from reading about it online and it changed how I look at the ammo I carry.
 
Yeah, once you see it in context, you stop picking ammo off specs and start trusting what actually works under stress.
 
That kind of training really changes things. Reading specs is one thing, seeing it play out is another.
 
Context changes everything, once you see it in realistic drills, ammo choice stops being theoretical.

Yeah, context changes everything...what works on paper looks very different under pressure.
