I always thought I was a decent precision shooter, but benchrest showed me there’s a completely different level to it. The level of consistency those shooters chase is on another scale. I may not switch over, but I definitely respect it more now.
I once watched a guy spend hours and hours, just trying to shave off maybe a hundredth of an inch from his group. You've gotta respect that kind of obsession.
Benchrest shooting is a whole different ballgame even if it looks similar on the surface. The kind of insane precision those folks are after makes what most people call "precision shooting" seem pretty laid-back by comparison.
