I've been thinking about taking my 5-year-old fishing and honestly, I have no idea where to start. I saw some kid-sized rods at a store and I’m curious if those would be good for us. I didn’t do much fishing growing up, but I want to make some fun memories with my kid. What kind of setup do you all recommend for a beginner outing? Just looking for something easy and not too complicated.

For a 5 year old I'd say a zebco wallyworld rod and reel combo would be good. If your familiar with spinning reels and think you can teach your son to cast with that it would be much better then the zebco. As for bait it depends on what type of fish your after. But an around bait would be hard to beat a slip bobber and a worm. Everything will take a worm.
Good luck even if its a couple weeks later.
