Just hunt with the wind, forget the rest

My pal doesn't bother with scent control at all, he just watches the wind. He still bags a deer every season, it kind of makes you wonder if I am thinking about this too much. Is wind direction or getting rid of your scent more important?

Wind beats scent spray every time. Play the wind right and you can skip half the gimmicks.

The eastern white tail hunters become obsessed with scent control because of the way they hunt. They're mostly hunting in a blind or a stand and not camping over night and can't easily change spots if the wind shifts.
Most western hunters will be camping sometimes in the backcountry. There is absolutely no way any product is going to eliminate scent from cooking, camp fire, gasoline and body odor.
The best thing you can do is learn wind thermals and have your own nose in the wind or crosswise into the wind.
The second is noise control and then movement.
