My hunting rifle has one job: be accurate, be reliable and start when it's cold. Everything else is optional, stop overcomplicating this.

If it shoots straight and works in the cold, it’s hired. Everything else is résumé fluff

That makes sense. A hunting rifle needs to work every time and hit its target. I do not really care about all the extras as long as it's reliable on a cold morning.

My old Tikka T3 does three things well: feeds, fires, and consistently groups Hornady Precision Hunter under an inch...that’s all I really need.

Doing one job well every time is key. The hunters who overthink the platform usually don’t practice their shot enough.

Cold start reliability usually gets ignored when testing rifles because no one wants to test at 14 degrees. If you’re hunting, your rifle should pass that test first.
